Well it has been almost two weeks and two days since our little one was born. I can't believe that much time has passed.
Labor Story
This all started on Tuesday, December 18th when I went to my scheduled Doctor's appointment at 8:30 a.m. The doctor did her usual exam and informed me that I was at 5 cm and that my bag of water was weighing heavily on my cervix. She said I needed to check into the hospital right away since I was not feeling contractions. She did not want me to have the baby in the middle of a store or at home. I proceeded to check in to the hospital where they hooked me up to a contractions monitor and a baby heart rate monitor. An IV was started to pump fluids in my body as well. The nurse would review the contractions shown on the screen and asked if I felt anything . . . my reply was unusual . . . I didn't feel anything. After a while the doctor came by and broke my water. Some time passed and then an epidural was given (I was scared that I would be in horrible labor and wanted to make sure I got the drugs). The doctor had me on the lowest dosage of Pitocin to increase my contractions. Before we knew it I was at 9 cm and then I was ready to push. I pushed for 1 hour and 20 minutes before little Jazzy entered the world at 5:55 p.m. that day. She would not have taken quite as long, but she had her umbillical cord wrapped around her leg, so after every push she would inch her way out and then get sucked back in. So guys and gals, I had a pain free labor . . . for breastfeeding I was not as lucky. :) Jeremy says that I prepaid the labor pains since I have endured excruciating pain with my endometriosis since I was a young girl. Whatever the reasoning, I am truly thankful to the Lord for a smooth labor and healthy baby girl.
Life with Jazzy
Ever since she was born until even now, I am just in shock that we have a child and that I am a mom. Jasmine is just so cute and she loves to take naps with you on your chest. She likes to make all sorts of crazy noises when she sleeps. She loves to look around with her big brown eyes. She makes all sorts of expressions with her face. She scared daddy once with her ridiculously full diaper of poo. She has melted all of our hearts. Max (our cat) has been sleeping/trying to sleep a lot more since she has arrived. Max looks at us sometimes as if he wonders why we brought such a loud thing home.
Today Jeremy goes back to work. Me and Jazzy will be quite sad as time with Daddy at home has been so fun. I finished my first night shift that started from 11:00 p.m. Jazzy was on good behavior and actually slept between feedings. Whoo hoo! I better get some more winks before sunlight strikes.
Thanks for sharing your story : )
ReplyDeleteI like Jeremy's "prepaid" theory.

ReplyDeletehow i'd love that time for alex's 5/5/05 birth. as it was the nurse wouldn't budge a minute and recorded 12:56 as time of birth.
