Date Night Ideas in Houston

So now that baby girl is here, I feel we need to be more intentional about getting time as a couple. I came up with a plan. I am going to have a jar or box or something filled with scraps of paper with date ideas. I figure this is better than that dazed look we have when we can't figure out what the heck to do for our date. I am calling for help from all of you. What ideas do you have? Leave a comment. I am looking for reasonably priced date sort of things close by that could be done during the evenings or on a beautiful weekend. It is so important for us to continue to work on our marriage everyday. Our little girl is looking to us as her example of what a marriage is plus why have a so-so marriage when you can have a spectacular one.

  1. I recommend go-karts. There's one by Willowbrook mall.

Although, we tried this last year and the line was so long that we ended up leaving to get Caroline from her sitters.

Anyway, stuff like that keeps us young. We rode go-karts on our honeymoon.

I also recommend family outings. We went to the aquarium last summer and I hope we can go to the zoo this weekend. It feels like a mini-vacation.

  2. PAINT BALL - It lets you take out that rude comment your hubby made and you didnt say anything to him about it =) hee!haa! Plus it keeps you young. You can play on the same team or against each other. I recommend same team so you will be together.. but if your competitive like Jason and I - you will be on opposite teams. #1 Paintball has several fields in the area that are lit up at night and they are very reasonable with pricing.

Jason and I have done a date scavenger hunt - that is SUPER FUN !! You could make it a fun one - or a romantic one... either way your still together having a good time..

  3. You can always come to DFW, leave the Bambino with your expert baby caretaker cousin & wife and enjoy a weekend away here...That way you could be "away" but still check in our little girl when you want to...You could catch a Rangers game, do some shopping, visit friends, etc...When you are ready, call us.

  4. The Dessert Gallery! It's down in the galleria area... it has such yummy desserts, but the best part is they have board games and cards for free... so you can enjoy the yummy cheesecake (or whatever you fancy) while playing an exciting match of Connect Four!

  6. If you want a day date, go to the museum of natural science...if you like that sort of stuff. The museum is amazing!

  7. wow, y'all have some energy!

when our kids were little, we tried staying close to home--just in case. we like trying out the local places--napolie's is right in front of our neighborhood, as well as the little red barn hamburgers (on grant). they're typically quieter and just more colorful.

it's been fun to find places like that--kinda scavenger-hunt feel. :)

sorry, our typical dates are pretty simple--my best advice on this topic is that you SCHEDULE them. we've learned that INTENTIONS don't call a sitter and make plans. take turns picking the place what you'll be doing--mix it up.

i may have to try the go-carts...

and do take up amber chacko on that trip to DFW. whenever you're offered something so generous, pull out the calendar and a pen. :)
