On March 12th we set out for the open road around 10:30 a.m. We were supposed to leave by 9 a.m., but things got delayed because I was in the midst of getting mastitis and felt loopy. After getting myself together and throwing things into suitcases, we were off to Rockport. We had been hyping up the road trip/vacation/seeing the beach for about a week to Jasmine. I had been reading books about the subject to Jasmine and she knew a bit of what to expect. On the way there, I told Jeremy that I did not want to eat at McDonalds or Subway. So we decide we are going to stop in Victoria for lunch and then we pass the city by . . . it was a real small city, so we turned around . . . guess where we ate . . . yes, McDonalds. Then we arrived in Rockport, Jeremy noted a vast number of mosquitos, unloaded our stuff and headed to the beach. Jasmine was excited to play on their playgrounds, walk along the beach, make sandcastles and look at the beautiful birds. Now in the midst of this, Jeremy notes that there are tons of mosquitos everywhere and he is getting eaten alive. So we collected the kiddos from the beach and realized it was getting late for dinner. The easiest place to get food . . . you guessed it . . . Subway!!! So we got back to the condo and fed the kids . . . by this time Jasmine was experiencing meltdown and Jeremy, Seth and I were almost there as well! Just so we could think for a minute we put Jasmine down to sleep in her pack and play. We decided that the mosquito population was too great for us to stay any longer since all the activities we planned were outside. So we packed everything back in the car, loaded the kids and headed back home. Yes, we were back home by 11:30 p.m. the same day. Boo!
On the road - in the distance we kept seeing mirages of water. It was nuts!
