Potty training Jazzy style

On April 23rd, a big box arrived for Jasmine. It was a red potty seat . . . the color was her choice. Here she is trying it out for size.

On May 5th, I decided to randomly put her on the potty three times that day and she peed all three times. I was shocked and amazed. Here is Jasmine's treat - some Oreo yumminess Jeremy brought home the night before.

On May 6th, I told Jasmine that she would get a chocolate every time she peed in the potty. I went to Kroger and purchased a bag of Hershey's miniatures and let me tell you the girl peed a lot that day . . . even if it was just a dribble. That night I went to Target and got some peanut M&M's (a much smaller reward) and some Pull Ups as potty training was upon us.
On the 7th, I went to the last MOPS meeting and the potty training thing was a little too stressful outside of the house, so we just did the diaper thing that day. On Saturday we tinkered with the potty some more and Jazzy and Seth started to develop a cold. On Sunday we stayed home due to snotty noses and I thought what a perfect time to pull the trigger (since Jeremy was home to hang out with our big man) and put this girl in some panties . . . and that is what we did. On our April 30th mommy/daughter date, we stopped off at the store and purchased some panties . . . she chose a package of Dora panties and I chose some with flowers and butterflies. So the Dora panties came on and we played in the kitchen, had special treats, watched videos and only had one accident . . . she even stayed dry at nap. At nighttime, we put Jasmine in a panty with a pull up on top and she wet her panty two times before we decided she wasn't quite ready for night time training.

Today she went to Kroger in a pull up and announced that she had to go potty. I wasn't sure what I should do and I decided that it would be a good teaching moment since my mom was with us. I took her to the potty and she used it (without a potty seat or anything). Whoa! My daughter is doing so well with the potty training thing. I am really proud of her and she is proud of herself too . . . we know this because we heard her tell herself this over the monitor. :) She still has accidents here or there, but that is part of learning. I am hoping that we are not in the honeymoon period of potty training. I hope that this is just the right time for her.

  2. Jasmine is doing so well!! I am so impressed she told she needed to potty at Krogers! I am super impressed that she used the public potty the first try. Abigail still doesn't really like to go the potty in public. Way to go!!!!
