Flying poop and madness

Jazzy started her seventh week of life this past tuesday and boy has this week been memorable in good ways and not so good ones.

First things first, here is a video of little girl crying . . . I think it is funny. She gets so aggravated.

So Wednesday I had my six week checkup after the baby and my OB says everything has healed nicely you can do what you want to do. Yeah! Friday comes along and I start my period. First of all I thought that I wouldn't start my period until after I finished breastfeeding, but I guess I am special and don't get a break. :( So at this point my daughter has gone backwards and instead of sleeping for a 3 to 4 hour stretch at night, she has decided to feed every two hours day and night for the last couple of days. I was going nuts. I mean I am on my period and am at wits end getting up every hour and a half during the night and feeding like a mad woman during the day. I was doing some light reading when I came across this bit of horrible information -- "Some women do notice a temporary drop in milk supply in the days just prior to a period and for a few days into one. This is due to hormonal fluctuations. Once the period begins and hormone levels begin to return to normal, the milk supply will boost back up again. Most babies can compensate well for this temporary drop in supply with more frequent nursing." I copied the info from breastfeed-essentials.com. I mean not only do I feed bad, but my body causes me to have to nurse more. This is a cruel joke!!! Well my milk supply is back up as my daughter fed at 8:51 p.m. last night and then again at 3:28 a.m. Praise the Lord! It was glorious sleep as you can tell since I have chosen to post at this insane hour.

Yesterday also brought about another funny event -- my Jazzy had her regular blowout aka lots of poop that oozes out of diaper within a few minutes of being deposited. Jeremy was helping me as it was a big mess. Anyways before we know it little girl decides to poop again unexpectedly and Jeremy got caught in the cross fire. How horrilble! She got him on the hand. During the entire event we used five hundred paper towels/wipes and I believe a couple of diapers were also sacrificed in the process. Lesson learned -- little girls can be just as dangerous as little boys. Beware of flying poop!

Jazzy seemed to be so alert and cute yesterday. I think she is growing up. I can't wait to see her first real smile . . . maybe this next week.

Well I should probably indulge in a few more winks. Talk to you later.

  1. I am laughing out loud...loudly-I remember those dangerous diapers! Wait till you start potty-training!! The funniest thing is that you posted this blog at 4-something in the morning...

We are loving your blog-it is so nice to get to "see" Jazzy (and you and Jer) even though we are so far away.

    big hugs, and prayers!

  3. Such a funny post!!

Oh, and PS. there is a pill that is safe for breastfeeding, and you don't have a period the entire time you use it. So I had another glorious 13 months with no period after Caroline was born... not to brag or anything : )

  4. You should ask your doctor or lactation consultant about Brewer's Yeast...It really helps you keep a good milk supply up...You can purchase at any drug store.

Glad for the update and that you all are doing well!
