How to find a cookie

Well after reading Margaret's blog on surprising her husband with their second pregnancy, I thought I would do the same. My best friend Jody had bought a twin pack of pregnancy tests, so she got a positive on one and decided that she would give me the other. She had the test in her purse and we went to Babies R Us, but we forgot to make the exchange. At that point I had no thought of us being pregnant. Then she was supposed to bring it to a baby shower, church, etc. Time was going by and at this point I was late . . . super late . . . 6 days late. I was supposed to go by and see Jody in the morning on March 25th. At the time my car was having trouble, so we were using one car and I had to drop off Jeremy at work. I had been thinking about this potential pregnancy each day and night for those long six days! Jeremy had no clue. He asked me when my period should be starting again and I fudged . . . I said later that week. So back to the story. I ask Jeremy if I could drop him off at work a bit early and he said sure why not. I drop him off and run right over to Jody's house. You may be asking yourself, "Why didn't Marianne just buy a pregnancy test?" The answer is simple. I am cheap!!! I get to Jody's house and within the first five minutes I tell her I need that test pronto. She had been wondering as I sounded disappointed the last time she forgot to bring the test to me. Of course I didn't take the test immediately because I wasn't sure I had enough pee and boy was I nervous. I chugged some water and finally got the courage to pee on the stick. I was just sitting there in the guest bathroom in shock and with such excitement. I was so thankful to the Lord for this blessing. We had tried two years before we got pregnant with Jasmine, so I never expected to get pregnant so soon.
Here is the evidence to show Jeremy later in the day!

I just checked my pic file for the above picture. Yeah I took it at 9:09 a.m. I came out and told Jody the great news. I was so excited that I was pregnant, but also that I could share the experience again with my pregnant best friend!! As I said before, it was early in the morning and then I was set to pick Jeremy from work at 2 p.m. I contemplated how/when to tell Jeremy. It was killing me. I tried to take a picture of Jasmine holding a "I'm a big sister" sign . . . that failed! I tried to calm down and enjoyed the rest of my visit with Jody. I then went to see Erica and her cute little man Nate. How fun it was to visit friends, but my mind was just brewing and I was tortured with this exciting news. I finally head over to try and pick Jeremy up from work a little early. Yeah the man made me wait in the car for 10-15 minutes while he finished his work. I wanted to tell Jeremy the news when we got home, but our kind friend Daniel was coming over to fix my car at 2:30 p.m. and Jeremy was just getting into my car at 2 p.m. What to do? Should I tell him in the car? or wait until after Daniel leaves? what if it takes ten hours for them to fix my car (by the way it only took one hour and that included going to the auto parts store)? At this point I am frantic! Jeremy is blabbing about his day at work and finally I cut him off and tell him right there in the church parking lot. I tell him that Jasmine made a card for him at Jody's house that morning. He opens the envelope and sees the sign that says "I'm a big sister." He looks at me and is totally confused. How can someone be confused? I just don't get the mind of a man. He asks me if this means Jasmine is a big sister to Jody's new baby. I look at him and said no. He looks even more confused. It took about two minutes and then FINALLY he gets that we are pregnant.
A posed pic the day after we told Jeremy the news

A first pregnancy pic in the bluebonnets. With Jasmine we had taken pics like this one in the bluebonnets, but had no idea we were pregnant.

Best friends pregnant again!
So that is the story! I look at my pregnancy counter and can't believe I have 221 more days to go until cookie's due date. It seems like an eternity. I am ready for the morning sickness/tiredness to be over! I am not looking forward to getting bigger over the course of those 221 days. I AM estatic about meeting our cookie. I wish it could be 21 more days to cookie's due date . . . I am sure I could get everything together before then . . . okay maybe not! :)

  1. Thanks for sharing the story!!! I'm so incredibly excited for you! I wouldn't have been able to wait to tell Kirk, either. In fact, I didn't. Madelyn took the pregnancy test to Kirk while he was in the bathroom. TMI? Sorry.

  2. What a fun story!! I'm glad that I took my test while Kevin was on his way home... I only had to wait 30 minutes to tell him ; )
