Hanging out at home

Well I have posted in quite a while. Things have been busy around here. Seth is such a delightful little boy. He smiles and talks so much to us. He melts my heart . . . even at 3 a.m. He has been enjoying his tummy time on the Boppy and loves looking at himself in the mirror. We have started to put him to bed without being swaddled and he is doing great! He is eating every three hours during the day, goes to bed at 7 p.m. and then wakes up one to two times in the night to eat.
2/4/2010 - Flashing a beautiful smile! I could just eat him!

We went to see our friends Shane and Sarah a little over a week ago. I talked to Sarah about teaching her son at home and she gave me some great links. The Virtual Vine and Hubbard's Cupboard. She also showed me where to find the Texas Education Agency guidelines for Preschool. I also found a website with lesson plans for learning to read. It is at Brightly Beaming Resources. We are going to begin with the 26 week preparatory curriculum. It is awesome because all 26 weeks are laid out for me with a theme, book suggestions, activities, etc. I love the concept. I am not a teacher by trade, but I can follow directions pretty well. I am going to follow these lesson plans and see how it goes. Jasmine is such a sponge and loves learning. I know that we are in a season of life that we stay at home more, so I figure I should bring more fun into the house. I have just run out of ideas and let me tell you I didn't have too many to start with. So what do you do with your child? Any suggestions for teaching bible stories? I know I have so many friends that are teachers by trade or personality, so share your secrets!

2/2/2010 - Here is a picture of Jasmine playing with ice. I came up with the idea of showing Jasmine how water freezes to ice and then melts back to water. We had a lot of fun with this!

2/6/2010 - Grandma bought Jasmine a package of headbands and elastic headbands. The girl wanted all of them. Girls just want to have fun! :)

  1. Ugh! I just wrote a long comment about what we are using for Bible and then it vanished. I will try again later. Preview: It had this word in it...Catechism...don't be afraid of that word. :) I say that because it scared me. More to come.

  2. I use Virtual Vine and Hubbard's cupboard in my kindergarten classroom. Great resources! Also too funny about the ice thing. We are learning about heating & cooling this week, so we just did that today! :)
