Smokin' good time!

On March 29th we had a smokin' good time at our small group . . . there were no cigars, but lots of SMOKE. Jeremy was making some yummy oatmeal chocolate chip cookies for the gang before everyone arrived. He mixed up the stuff and put the cookies to bake in the oven. Little Miss Priss came around and pushed one of the buttons on the oven . . . she quickly was reprimanded for this. During this time I was feeding Seth in his room. I hear my mom ask Jeremy if he had a timer for these cookies. He did not and proceeded to go check the cookies. Apparently the oven is smoking and Jeremy opens it to find more smoke and burning cookies. How could this happen? The cookies had only been in for 10 minutes. At this time I exit the house with Seth. I am laughing in the backyard as Jeremy is battling the smoke. Amachi and Jasmine are keeping busy in a smoke free room as Jeremy conquers this beast. :) At this point Jeremy questions why the oven continues to smoke and I tell him some of the cookie dough must be burning on the bottom of the oven and that he would have to remove it. Jeremy opens up the oven and to my dismay he pulls out two cookie sheets worth of cookies . . . yes, my friends he did not pull out the cookies when he first discovered the smoke. I laughed a whole lot more at this point. He said he just closed the oven when the smoke started pouring out initially and didn't really think logically about it. At this time we put the burning cookies outside and opened the windows. Two minutes later our friends start arriving for dessert night. We ended up just hanging out in the backyard and no cookies were eaten. CONCLUSION: Jasmine must have pushed the broil button. Thanks Becky for your detective work! :)
