Committed to a better marriage

So do you ever have one of those "ah ha" moments in your marriage? Well Jeremy and I did at the end of December. We realized that we needed to put more energy in being better spouses to each other. We figured out that we were not showing love to the other in the way that they needed to be loved. That is a tough battle to win as it is so natural to give the type of love you want, and much harder to give the type of love your spouse wants. We are working on it and are trending in the right direction (gotta love that terminology from Jack Martin). We have instituted a "Date Night" each week which is awesome for us plus Jasmine gets special time with her grandparents and aunt. So my challenge to you is why have a so-so or mediocre marriage when you can have an awesome one? Marriage is not easy 24/7, but it is so fulfilling to love and enjoy the spouse the Lord has given to you.

Here are some books that we have learned from over the years of our marriage.

  1. Thanks for the reminder! I too often try to love Kirk with gifts and he love me with hugs, when it should be the other way around! Thanks for reminding me to love him in the way that's meaningful for HIM. Oh, and I love those first two books; they're the ones I always recommend, too!!

  2. Ahh yes.
The last book is a good one. It is so amazing how men and women think so differently even in this area. It has helped me understand Ren better.
